Unlike traditional incentive-based districts, the Crossroads CID was spearheaded by property owners themselves — not developers or outside agencies.

With over 51% of property owners and assessed value supporting the initiative, the CID’s approval marks a major milestone in community-led urban reinvestment.

What Will the Crossroads CID Fund?

  • Clean & Green Initiatives: Tree planting, sidewalk vegetation, and public landscaping
  • Public Infrastructure: Trash receptacles, improved sidewalks, and ongoing cleanup
  • Security & Ambassadors: Uniformed patrol and community presence similar to Downtown KC’s “yellow jackets”
  • Graffiti Removal: Dedicated programs for visual upkeep

With an expected annual budget of $1.2 million, the CID will fund these services over the next 10 years. These enhancements are designed to supplement existing city services—not replace them.
