How To Turn A Space Into An Entertainment Room
You probably find yourself spending more time at home, but it doesn’t mean you have to give up entertainment. You can turn a space into an entertainment room, without a lot of hard work. It will take some planning, but it’s worth it when you can enjoy movies, music, games, and more in the comfort and safety of your home.
1. Find a Space
A separate, enclosed room will work best but not every home has one to spare. You can combine an entertainment and living room without any problems. Another option is to create a more private area in your bedroom. Whichever option you choose, make sure it fits your needs.
2. You Need Components
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your TV and other electronics, now may be the time. Take inventory of what you have, and what you need to complete your setup. If you are installing a laser projector, think about throw distance and screen size. You don’t want a projector with a long throw distance if you are working in a small room. Don’t forget about speakers and an A/V receiver to simplify control. Some components integrate into smart home systems and it’s something else to consider as you’re setting up the entertainment system
3. Contain the Cords
There will be a lot of cords to plugin and it can quickly become an eyesore. If you are having the entertainment room professionally remodeled, ask about containing the cords in the wall. It will give the room a clean and uncluttered look. The only downside is moving the components at a later date. If you have the cords in the wall, make sure you have everything arranged how you want it.
You can also find handy hooks the hold electrical cords in place behind furniture. Cord covers are another option, and you may be able to find one that matches the wall color.
4. Have Plenty of Seating
You may not need to purchase new furniture, especially if you are combining an entertainment area with the living room. The furniture may need some arranging since you want to be able to see the screen no matter where you are sitting.
Comfort is something else to consider. Most movies are around 2 hours long, and you don’t want to sit on a lumpy couch. It’s uncomfortable and ruins the experience. When you are updating the furniture, look for pieces that provide plenty of comfort. It also helps if the furniture looks great in the space.
5. Don’t Forget About Storage
An entertainment room comes with games, DVDs, CDs, handheld devices, and other items that can quickly clutter the area. Storage is key to keeping everything organized and the room looking great.
When it comes to storage, you have plenty of stylish options. Built-in shelves and drawers are an option. You can also find storage units at most home improvement stores. Some home entertainment stands come with some storage compartments. It’s up to you to decide what looks and works best in your home.
6. Add Some Wall Decorations
If you are setting up the entertainment area in a living room or bedroom, you may not want to change the wall décor. If it’s a separate space, then you want to add some prints to the walls. Whether you choose movie or music themed items is up to you. The idea is to set the tone in the room. You want it to be fun and casual. The goal is to create a space everyone wants to spend time in.
It doesn’t take a lot of work to create an entertainment room, just the components, and some creativity.
